While arranged marriages come with greater security with greater involvement of parents, but still one question remain that is how to deal with entire new family, relationships for the rest of the life. Also the amount of judgment that the girl or boy has to go through, like appearance for girls and finance in case a boy weather he can keep the girl happy by meeting all her needs and luxury for the lifetime . But these days’ girls are becoming independent and hold good posts in different arena of professions. Unlike in love marriages, gender-based roles for both men and women are much more strongly enforced in arranged marriages. But weather it is arranged or love marriage it’s important to take decision wisely and carefully because it is all about entire life’s well being.
Present Status
Standing in this modernised India we can see a complete new evolution or rather we can say a whole new scenario in case of marriage. Love marriages are accepted with much more openness nowadays throughout the country in all prevalent cultures. Although the huge difference in divorce rates in India with other developed nations like the USA are being attributed to the glory of arranged marriages, it has more to do with the country’s social structure and not with the preferred mode of marriage. Marriages in the country nowadays have adopted this hybrid model called semi arranged marriage, where the boy or girl meet with the candidates preferred by their parents and if they provide their consent to the match they are allowed to date like a couple in love for a designated period of time which is called the courtship period. If all goes well, the couple will get married after the courtship period and will live happily ever after. Well above all it is the destiny as the saying goes marriages are made in heaven.
