Significance of women in the arena of politics

The participation of women in politics is not a new concept in India. The struggle for independence has seen many women revolutionaries playing an important role .The Freedom Movement led many women into the foray of politics and many of them made great sacrifices for the nation. 73rs constitutional amendment act Indian women got an equal share in the political administration of India. At present, India has just 59 women members out of 545 members in the Lok Sabha and in the rajya sabha there are only 21 female MPs out of 233 members.

India is blessed with some female leaders who ruled and still  ruling with heads high . Some of the Indian leaders are

Indira Gandhi – she was a politician and central figure of the Indian congress party and to date the only female Prime Minister of india.

Sarojini Naidu – was a poet and politician naidu served as the first governor of united provinces of agra and oudh from 1947 to 1949. She was the first woman to become the governor of an Indian state.

Jayalalithaa – was an Indian actor turned politician who served five terms as the CM of tamil naidu for over 14years .

Mamata Banerjee – is an Indian politician who is the chief minister of west Bengal since 2011 she is popularly known as didi.

Not only Indian female women are ruling in the entire globe . Some of the influential women leaders ruling different corners  of the country.

India has taken in great leap in the role of women inpolitcs from independence .But there are still many area where government and society need to transform and work a lot .The number of women member in parliaments and member of legislative assemblies is still low

Women security ,low sex ratio ,high maturity etc are still concern in this 21st century .It now totally depends on the people of india especially the women to for  their upliftment and take decisive participation in Indian politics.
